J.J. Watt is a Superhero

Screen Shot 2015-01-27 at 4.34.03 PM

I’ve come to the conclusion that J.J. Watt is either a Superhero or just a freak of nature – they’re one in the same most of the time. Watt is a Defensive End for the Houston Texans, but the superstar didn’t stop at tackling his own position, he has receiving yards which means he plays defense AND offense in the NFL, it’s basically unheard of.

When he’s not playing both sides of the field you can catch him kicking field goals or jumping over 59.9 inches which crushed youtube waves back in 2013.

While visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, Watt was asked to recreate his stunt, but this time he was in a suit and tie AND Kimmel and security guard Guillermo would be under the table. Since he has super powers, this task was a simple feat for Mr. Watt. He didn’t even rip his pants. What a beast.

Marshawn Lynch Finally Speaks His Mind

lynch

Marshawn Lynch is notorious for pushing the limits on and off the field. He is first and foremost a ridiculously talented running back for the SuperBowl bound Seattle Seahawks. Lets just say you would definitely want him on your fantasy roster, the dude’s nickname is “Beast Mode” for crying out loud.

Lynch is a badass player, but also has some ridiculous reputations off the field. First, he’s obsessed with Skittles. He was most recently fined $20,000 for grabbing his crotch during the NFC Championship game, this was not a first offense. He is also known for his refusal to speak to the media. He just doesn’t like it and doesn’t care if he gets fined $100,000 for it, but yesterday Skittles shared a press conference where Marshawn says what’s on his mind.

The caption below the video reads, “Marshawn Lynch gives an exclusive Skittles press conference to discuss the most pressing issues in football.”

Enjoy 🙂

And just remember, “You don’t feel beast mode, it feels you”

Kristin Cavallari Shares Cutler’s Daddy Drama

KCav Mommy

We all know Jay Cutler struggled on the field this season, but it seems as though his challenges followed him home. Parenting is tough, especially for Cutty.

I came across this hilarious little gem after I saw Kristin Cavallari judging the Miss Universe pageant. She was looking super fit and fabulous and I thought why not follow her on Instagram?

If you weren’t sure, KCav is the lovely wife of Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler. She seems to be a super mommy, staying incredibly in shape, raising their two kids Camden and Jaxon and running her own shoe line (it’s more than I accomplish on the regular). KCav had been out of town and shared a rather entertaining text she received when she landed from JC.

KCav text

Her caption read, “Contrary to what many people think, we don’t have a thousand nannies. So with that being said, when I got home from LA 2 days ago this is what I landed to. Pretty hilarious. Ladies, u want your man to appreciate u? Leave them alone with the kids to see what we deal with!” (I like everything about this caption minus the “u” – we’re not on AIM any more gf).

cutler poutI envision Cutler looking something like this when he sent these texts. Totally distraught and ready to surrender the white flag.

I think Cavallari is onto something. She should leave Jay home alone with the kids more frequently and maybe he’ll get some thicker skin. No one can whip you into shape better than two little boys under the age of 3.

What It’s Like to Live Amongst the 12th Man

space needle 12th manI’ve been in Seattle for a little over 2 months and I’ve learned two things super quickly:

1.) The Emerald city is crazy about composting garbage and recycling (it’s illegal to throw food scraps in your trash).

2.) Seattleites are absolutely INSANE about their Seattle Seahawks. I mean I get it, I’m a Bears fan through-n-through and I’ve always been the one decked out in my fan gear on Sundays. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to cheer for a defending champion NFL team. And although I’ve grown up in a sports city, the 12th man is a whole other animal that has truly encompassed the city. It’s blue and lime green all day EVERY day.

seattle-seahawks-superbowl-12th-man

It doesn’t matter where you go 12’s are EVERYWHERE. Small signs in every apartment window, large signs outside of professional buildings, people wearing their 12th man jerseys like they’re a legitimate player on the Seahawks roster and my personal favorite, the 12th man flag flies proudly atop the popular Space Needle lit with green and blue lights.

If you need more information about the 12th Man, don’t worry, they’ve got a website: http://www.seahawks.com/12th-Man/. Obviously, it doesn’t stop there.

12th man beerWhy not have a local beer dedicated to the fans of Seattle? The 12th Can from Ballard brewmasters Hilliard’s Beer was the answer to this problem. The brew was introduced in 2013.

12th blendWashington is a state is known for it’s delicious wine. It’s basically the first cousin to Napa Valley. So obviously, you’re going to have a few winos hanging around (myself included). What do you get when you put Seahawks fans and a wine label together? The “12th Blend” produced by Eye of the Needle Winery. It not only has a fun label 12th man fans adore, it also supports Northwest Harvest, a statewide, nonprofit hunger relief agency.

12 spiritsIf you’re not a beer or wine fan, don’t you fret. 12th Spirits has some harder Vodka and Gin options for you as well. So basically, no matter what you’re drinking you can always incorporate the 12th man.

Why stop at booze? The 12th man is a part of daily life here in Washington. I think the next best option would be to decorate your home to show your support? This Ferndale homeowner originally only painted her front door lime green and her neighbors encouraged her to just go all out and incorporate the garage as well. All for the love of the Hawks.

Seattle is also one of the most dog friendly cities in the US. The 12th man doesn’t care if you’re animal or human, all living beings are included in the majestic fan-hood. Take this golden retriever and her puppies for example.

12th man puppy

It’s not just the fans and their pets who have adopted this 12th Man persona, but the team itself is onboard.

Team waving flagBefore every game the 12th Man flag is raised by a player or some sort of celebrity and it is an HONOR in this neck of the woods. Coach Pete Carroll, Quarterback Russell Wilson and the crazy talented and outspoken cornerback Richard Sherman always acknowledge the 12th man in their post game interviews as well.

As an outsider, I think the fact that the city is so supportive of their NFL fans is fantastic. I hope the Bears will actually win a Superbowl in my lifetime and Chicago embraces the obnoxious and amazing fandom.

However, my one qualm is the 12 jerseys. There are so many crazy talented players on the Seahawks your options are endless for jersey choices. Go get yourself a Wilson or Chancellor jersey, otherwise you just look silly (unless you’re a fluffy pup, then it doesn’t really matter what jersey you wear).

So bring on the Superbowl Seahawks. My Bears gear has been put away until next season and I’m hopping on the Superbowl bandwagon with my Seahawks baseball cap. I’m ready to experience what it’s like to win a Championship in the city of the 12th man. Give it to me Seattle 🙂

Two Stars and One Superhero Superbowl Bet

Superbowl Pic

If you’re going to make a bet for the biggest sporting event in the United States, it better have “Super” proportions. In terms of American pride, it doesn’t get much better than the Superbowl and this year the defending champion Seattle Seahawks are about to battle it out with the New England Patriots. For many people (mostly those of us who’s teams aren’t playing in the big game) the Superbowl is an opportunity to place some bets for cash, maybe buy a few squares, or you can go all out in Vegas with the big dogs. It is rare that a bet making headlines has nothing to do with cash, but rather volunteering at a Children’s Hospital.

Here is the winning combination for a Superbowl bet:

Two actors who play Superheroes + NFL Fandom + Stakes that tug at your heart strings = Perfection

Chris Pratt (Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy) is a Washington native and a passionate member of Seattle’s 12th man crew. On the other side of this bet is Chris Evans (Captain America) a die-hard Patriots fan. The two started a bit of a back-and-forth on twitter Tuesday which resulted in a rather epic Superbowl bet involving Superheros and giving back to the Children’s Hospitals. Check out how it all went down.

Screen Shot 2015-01-21 at 11.13.27 PMScreen Shot 2015-01-21 at 11.08.50 PMI think, regardless of what happens this is a bet where everyone ends up winning in the end. Hopefully, both Children’s hospitals get visits from both Superheroes.

Merry Christmas Bears Fans

Bears CarolsAn angry Bears fan adds some new lyrics to your favorite Christmas carols. After last night’s horrific Monday night football game against Drew Brees and the Saints, it’s safe to say every Bears fan is past the point of disappointed and truly embarrassed.

I took my Bears hat off at the bar because it was no longer appropriate to associate myself with that kind of football.

Despite the bad play, this gentleman’s musical debut was at least entertaining. Misery loves company.

Brandon Marshall Signs his 3-Year Extension in Style

Bmarsh donation

Brandon Marshall is anything but mediocre whether you’re chatting up his freakishly athletic moves on the football field, referencing one of his active social media accounts or loving on his bow-tie swagger. He is his own man.

On Monday, the star wide-out signed a $30-million extension with the Chicago Bears (one that I am quite pleased with) in some serious style.

Marshall on the ViewWhy sign your extension in your PJs at home? BMarsh decided to make it a public adventure by signing his extension next to his wifey and Jenny McCarthy on The View. The deal puts him under contract through 2017 and gives him $40 million over the next four years with $23 million guaranteed – not too shabby Mr. Marshall.

THEN to top things off Marshall pledged $1 million to the “Mental Health Community” immediately after accepting his extension. He had been on the daytime talk show discussing mental health before he made the surprise announcement about his extension. His personal experience with a mental health disorder has made him a sincere and extremely vocal advocate for the cause.

This extension is definitely worth the Bears’ dollars. Since signing with Chicago the ProBowler has caught 218 passes for 2,803 yards, 23 touchdowns and is the number one offensive target. Marshall has always been unbelievably talented, but his emotional stature made him a bit of a maturity risk. After his two years with the Bears, Marshall has now honed in those emotions and made himself a mentor for younger wide receivers such as Alshon Jeffery. He’s also been spending his time in Florida this off-season hosting some serious grind sessions for himself and teammates to improve strength, speed and stamina according to ESPN Chicago.

BMarsh has gotten his probowls – now it’s time for a Superbowl. #Beardown
