Bulls STUN “White Hot” Heat 93-86 in Game 1 | SportsDivas Inc.

After a two week series with the Brooklyn Nets, a battered roster, and countless injuries, many expected the Bulls to be too tired to get past the Heat’s “big three” in Monday night’s series opener in Miami.  But the Bulls stunned us all and continued their incredi-BULL post season run with a 93-86 Game 1 road win against the reigning NBA Champs.

The Roseless, Kirkless, Dengless Chicago Bulls defied the odds and pulled off a huge upset in South Beach Monday night in front of the White Out crowd proving once again just how tough they can play the Heat. Like Coach Thibs always says, as long as the Bulls have five guys on the court, “they have enough to win.”

If you had anticipated a Miami sweep in this Eastern Conference Semifinal series, you can put down your hater-ade and buckle up because the Bulls aren’t going anywhere without a fight.

Bulls January Report Card: A

The heart, hustle and muscle of the Bulls continues to defy all expectations this NBA season. If you’ve been waiting for Rose’s return before truly paying attention to the Bulls, it’s time to buckle in and start believing because the Chicago Bulls have proven that they are the real deal – with or without Derrick Rose.

Our Bulls wrapped up January winning 12 of their 16 games, they’re 29-18, and third in the Eastern Conference. Not too shabby for a team missing their star player. Let’s breakdown the Bulls fierce start of 2013.

The Good: January was a monster month for the Bulls with 16 games and a flurry of activity. The Bulls are sending two players to the NBA All-Star game for the second year in row. Joakim Noah was elected to his first All-Star slot and Luol Deng is making a back-to-back All-Star appearance.

Derrick Rose is closer than ever to his return to the court. Throughout January the star worked his way up to consistently practicing with full contact. What does this mean? Our DRose lovin’ minds can barely contain our happiness because the point guard could potentially come back sometime in February or March.

For the first time in a Bulls uniform Carlos Boozer is playing to his true potential. The Booze Cruise demolished the month of January (before his hamstring injury in the final week). Boozer’s play is a definite threat to other teams. He’s big, he can shoot, and now his defense is finally getting dirty. The Bulls have a true power forward in their starting lineup for the first time in 3 years.

The team really started to dominate the East when the Bulls’ bench clicked. We’ve got flashes of the Bench Mob back in action. Jimmy Butler isn’t a NBA rookie anymore – he’s made a big splash off the bench. Nasty Nate Robinson is still taking some crazy shots, but he’s also racking up the points. Marco Belinelli continues to surprise us with his smooth jump-shots and improved defense and Taj Gibson has added plenty of dirty dunks.

The Bad: Inconsistency still haunts the Bulls. They endured a rough loss to the Washington Wizards on the road. It might have been an away game, but the Wizards are the worst team in the league – no excuses.

Overall Assessment:  January was absolutely the best month yet for the Bulls. Chicago was 12-4 for the month and gave a new breath of hope to all Bulls fans. If the Bulls can keep playing at the same caliber, 2013 is going to be a beautiful year. Coach Tom Thibodeau has done it again and this time he took his misfit players and transformed them into another stifling defensive team.

Bulls December Report Card: B

Happy New Year Bulls fans! With 2012 behind us, the Bulls look to take January by storm. Chicago finished off the calendar year at 16-13 and 9-6 for the month. December was a bit of a roller-coaster for the Bulls as they were able to defeat some of the Eastern Conference’s top teams, but also choked against one of the very worst.

The Bulls were a team held to very few expectations entering the 2012-2013 season, but our Bulls are fighters and have proven many of their haters wrong. It hasn’t been an easy ride thus far as every win has been a collective team effort of heart, sweat and intensity.  Let’s take a look at the good and the bad of the final days of 2012.

The Good: The Bulls did some Eastern Conference damage in December. They beat the New York Knicks twice (once at home and once at Madison Square Garden), they locked up a home win and a road win against their playoff rival Philadelphia 76ers, and to top things off they also beat the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics.

The Bulls reserves are proving that this new crew is just as powerful as the “bench mob”. Marco Belinelli came out of his shell producing some extra offensive power when Rip Hamilton was locked down due to a foot injury and Belinelli took his starting slot.

Nate Robinson has done his fair share and is an obvious spark-plug off the bench. His additional scoring power has kept the Bulls alive in many of their close games. Jimmy Butler plays less than 20 minutes a game, but makes every minute count.

Rookie point guard Marquis Teague has shown promise with his excellent court vision and decision-making. Teague has appeared in 16 games as Kirk Hinrich has suffered a string of injuries.

The Bad: Despite the positive wins, they also had some rough losses. Chicago rode the struggle bus Christmas Day getting blown out by the Houston Rockets 120-97. Don’t get me wrong, since the addition of James Harden the Rockets have been playing well, but it’s always embarrassing to lose by 20 plus points. Apparently Charlotte has Chicago’s number, because the 8-23 Bobcats defeated the Bulls 91-81, a 10 point deficit.

Overall Assessment: Finishing 9-6 on the month is definitely a positive for the Rose-less Bulls. The last few games of December were rather rough to watch as they got spanked by the Atlanta Hawks, trampled by Houston on Christmas Day, and defeated by the lowly Charlotte Bobcats.

If only Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich could get their offensive mojo flowing consistently our Bulls could consider themselves a playoff contender. It’s still quite early in the season for any serious predictions, but the Bulls are in decent shape starting out 2013.

Bulls Weekend Round-Up: Big Brooklyn Win & Injury Reports

Tis’ the season to Bullieve! Yet again, our Chicago Bulls were able to silence the critics and squeeze out another shorthanded nail-biter against the Brooklyn Nets Saturday at the United Center. The Nets – who recently updated their location to Brooklyn (they used to dwell over the entire state of New Jersey) are one of the biggest surprises of the Eastern conference this season and were expected to take this one away from the Bulls. Despite Deron Williams’ three-pointer at the buzzer, Marco Belinelli’s sweet shooting allowed Chicago to walk away with an 83-82 win.

High Flying LA Clippers Defeat Bulls 94-89

Lob City invaded Chi City Tuesday night to grind out a 94-89 win over the Chicago Bulls, putting a kabosh on the Bulls three-game winning streak and extending their own to seven games. The Bulls fought a tough battle all night and were able to keep up with the high-flying fast paced Clippers throughout the game, but in the end the Bulls didn’t have enough firepower in the final minutes to defeat the Clip-show. Despite a loss, the Bulls’ performance was a huge improvement from the 20 point romping they received from LA earlier this season. Let’s take a closer look at what exactly went down on the floor of the UC during this showdown.

Bulls Squeak Out Preseason Win Against Shorthanded Thunder

The Bulls pulled off their most impressive preseason win at home on Tuesday night defeating the agressive and talented Oklahoma City Thunder 94-89. Chicago’s starters looked damn good racking up some positive stats for the evening, but despite the win it wasn’t a true test because OKC’s All-Star (and fashion forward) duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook sat this one out. Although they were missing their super-stars on the court, the Thunder – reigning NBA Western Conference Champs – played with regular season intensity making the Bulls work for it.

BULLS BUZZ: Off-Season Bench-Cleaning Re-Cap | SportsDivas Inc.

It may only be August, but it’s never too early to amp up your Bulls knowledge, particularly after a turbulent off-season like this. The theme of this year’s off-season has definitely been “out with the old, in with the new” – bench that is. After the Bulls brass changed up the roster quite a bit through a series of trades during NBA Free Agency, we’re going to have some new names and faces to get to know. Old faces like Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson are still around to provide us with some dunks, but the Bulls’ beloved bench mob is essentially gone. Check out who’s in and who’s out!
