Heat Fan Flips the Bird: Keeping It Classy Miami

miami fans

As Joakim Noah was walking off the court in Game 2 after his ejection, a lovely Miami Heat fan thought it appropriate to flip-the-bird in Jo-No’s face. The game may have been a blow out, but the real talk of the town is the instant classic photo that has been spiraling around the social media realm. The photo is outrageous on it’s own, but the story gets better.

The white-hot-pant wearing mami has been identified as Filomena “Phyllis” Tobias, the widow (after one year of marriage) of hedge-fund millionaire and CNBC personality Seth Tobias. Their marriage was a relationship based on coke, pill-popping, booze and infidelity with a gay stripper named Tiger. It was a dream come true. The best part, Filomena was accused of murdering her fourth hubby after he was found floating dead in their pool and she inherited some serious cash-money. Stephen Rodrick of New York Magazine did an entire spread on Seth Tobias’ questionable death in 2008.

That’s a real quality Heat fan right there…

Bulls vs Heat Game 2 Semifinals Cheat Sheet 5.8.13

The short-handed Bulls extinguished the Heat and their raging egos on Monday night with their 93-86 Game 1 win, obliterating any ideas of a four-game “Miami Sweep” in the second round. Our favorite South Beach divas were caught off guard and we can’t imagine they were too thrilled about their unexpected loss to their conference foes who were missing three of their starters.

Chicago’s work in the series opener was nothing short of astonishing, but the Heat will be out for blood to defend their reputation as champs in front of their home crowd in Game 2. We can expect bigger and stronger plays from King James and his faithful minions after losing to our fearless Bulls squad. Can Nate Robinson and Joakim Noah lead the Bulls to another emotional win over the Heat?

Joakim Noah Has Derrick’s Back

noah postgame

After the Bulls unexpected 93-86 Game 1 win over the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Monday, Rose speculators started running their mouths more than usual about “the return.”

no soul

Joakim Noah stood up for his brother in red and had some words for the Rose-Haters out there. Noah told the press that what Derrick is going through is so tough and it’s amazing how quickly people jump to judge a player that they admired so deeply just a year ago.

“If you tore your ACL and you have to be the starting point guard and have the expectations that Derrick has, then maybe you can judge, but everybody who hasn’t been in that situation before should really shut up because I feel like it’s just so unfair to him and to this team. We’re fighting, and everybody’s going to just s— on somebody who’s been giving so much to this organization. It’s crazy to me,” he told ESPN Chicago.

Derrick_BenchCritics have been up and arms about Rose’s return since he was medically cleared in March and has not yet played this season. On Monday Rose told the media that he hasn’t been ruled out completely for the Bulls-Heat series, he said, “still up in the air. I might have a chance.”

Noah has a point though, since when would any of us fans, analysts or other players have any idea what he’s going through. Last time I checked we’re not franchise point guards that are expected to carry our teams on our backs. People expect Derrick Rose to come back in “too big, too fast, too strong” fashion – that’s just a little bit of pressure.

We can just add this to the list of reasons the city of Chicago loves Joakim Noah. Never lose your passion man. Preach Jo-No.

Bulls STUN “White Hot” Heat 93-86 in Game 1 | SportsDivas Inc.

After a two week series with the Brooklyn Nets, a battered roster, and countless injuries, many expected the Bulls to be too tired to get past the Heat’s “big three” in Monday night’s series opener in Miami.  But the Bulls stunned us all and continued their incredi-BULL post season run with a 93-86 Game 1 road win against the reigning NBA Champs.

The Roseless, Kirkless, Dengless Chicago Bulls defied the odds and pulled off a huge upset in South Beach Monday night in front of the White Out crowd proving once again just how tough they can play the Heat. Like Coach Thibs always says, as long as the Bulls have five guys on the court, “they have enough to win.”

If you had anticipated a Miami sweep in this Eastern Conference Semifinal series, you can put down your hater-ade and buckle up because the Bulls aren’t going anywhere without a fight.

Eastern Conference Semifinals Preview: Chicago Bulls vs Miami Heat | SportsDivas Inc.

The battered Bulls defied the odds yet again this weekend when they knocked out the Brooklyn Nets in Game 7 despite their seriously injured lineup. With just one day of rest after a grueling seven game opening series, our men in red are moving right along to the second round of the playoffs where they will matchup against their Eastern Conference foes – the big, bad Miami Heat.

The fifth seeded Chicago Bulls are yet again the underdogs as they are taking their talents to South Beach on Monday to begin their series with the top seeded and defending Champion Miami Heat.

Miami, who spanked the Milwaukee Bucks in four games and has been resting for a week, are the obvious series favorites as BronBron just snagged another MVP title, they had the best record in the NBA during the regular season and they’re stacked with athletic talent.

The depleted Bulls are still without their franchise stud Derrick Rose, key players such as Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng have been plagued with injury and illness and they just played an extremely physical seven-game series with the Nets. But don’t rule the Bulls out completely, it’s the NBA playoffs and anything can happen.

Bulls fans know better than anyone that their team can rise to the occasion no matter the situation and play with heart, hustle and as much muscle as they have. Head Coach Tom Thibodeau always says, “we have enough to win.” If there’s one team who’s not afraid to play Lebron and company, it’s the Chicago Bulls.

Get ready for some intense basketball and some seriously entertaining post game fashion (yes, that’s a palm tree sweater) as the Miami Heat will deliver both throughout this second round series. Let the emotional roller-coaster that has been the Bulls 2013 post-season continue.

If watching the Bulls has taken a back seat to other reality TV viewing this season, it’s time for you to jump back on the Bulls bandwagon. The NBA playoffs have finally arrived and the next month and a half of exciting playoff action is the ideal time to really tune in and pay attention.

It’s been a love-hate relationship for most of us Bulls fans this season, but the time has come to put the regular season behind us, strap on our best Bulls gear and BULLieve in our city’s team.

Despite the constant disappointing hype surrounding Derrick Rose’s return and the additional injuries to other starters, the men in red nabbed the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and are heading to Brooklyn to get the post season started against the Nets this Saturday.

Brooklyn has home-court advantage in the first series, being the fourth seed, however the match-up is not unfavorable for the Bulls. Chicago took 3 of the 4 games against the Nets in the regular season – one coming just a few weeks ago while the Bulls were missing half their roster. This series will be a true test of the offensively powerful Nets and the defensively feisty Bulls. Can the “heart, hustle and muscle” pull off a first round win against the new-era Nets? Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau told ESPN he “likes his chances,” with the guys who have played all year. Let’s find out.

Bulls March Report Card: C+

The month of March was ticking along like just an average month of late for the Bulls, full of ups and downs and sprinkled with some tough injuries, until they snapped the big bad Miami Heat’s 27 game winning streak. And like magic, the shorthanded Chicago Bulls gained a little bit of much-needed respect around the league.

As we begin the final month of the regular season, our Bulls have already clinched a playoff spot – not too shabby. Let’s re-cap what went down this past month. Remember ladies, these are excellent talking points for water coolers, cocktail parties and wherever else the Bulls are discussed.

The Good: Despite missing some key players due to injury, the team has glimmers of fabulousness when they play as a cohesive unit. Los Bulls were able to defeat the Heat without Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Marco Belinelli and Rip Hamilton.

Defense is the name Thibodeau’s game. The Bulls are still dominating on defense, only allowing 92.5 points a game (going strong at third best in the league).

The Bad: No sight of DRose. The Bulls star point guard has taken a cautious approach to his return to the lineup after undergoing serious ACL surgery last May. Even though Rose was cleared to play by the team’s doctors in March, he’s been very vocal about not suiting up until he feels 100%.

This is all fine and dandy, but it’s time to make an official statement – he’s either coming back or he’s not. If not for the fans, then for the mental sake of his teammates who are bombarded with “Derrick Rose return” questions on a daily basis.

The Bulls can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries. Kirk Hinrich spent half of the month on the bench with his ailing injuries.  Rip Hamilton is out of the lineup with a back injury. Taj Gibson also missed more than half of the month with a knee injury. One of the toughest injuries has been Joakim Noah’s plantar fasciitis that has kept the heart of the Bulls hustle and muscle sidelined for the last few games.

Overall: Chicago is sixth in the East and won half of the games played in March. A 7-7 record constitutes a C average, but the Bulls get some extra credit for preventing the Heat from making NBA history. We give the men in red a C+.

Bulls February Report Card: D

The Bulls clocked some major miles on the struggle bus this past February. After a red-hot January, the Bulls looked like a different team this past month, reminding fans of the harsh reality that there is still a lot of basketball to be won and lost. There was some good and way too much ugly to sum up the 28 frosty days Bulls fans would rather forget.  Let’s dive into it:

Good: Joakim Noah and Luol Deng made Chicago proud in their All-Star appearances. There’s nothing better than having two of the best representing your city.

The Bulls defense is still killing it, only allowing 91.2 points a game (3rd best in the league). If only their offense could follow suit.

Bad: Derrick Rose’s brother/manager Reggie Rose: Reggie opened his big mouth and toyed with our emotions. Because the Bulls didn’t make any big moves (trades/signings) to bolster their roster before the NBA Trade Deadline, Reggie accused the Bulls organization of not doing enough to build a team around Derrick and that their lack of attack to the Trade Deadline may very well cause DRose to sit out the whole season.

In one interview Reggie was able to completely insult the current Bulls roster (excluding Deng and Noah) as well as tarnish his brother’s reputation. The worst part of it all is that we still have no idea if Rose will actually return.

Ugly: The Bulls STRUGGLED offensively during February.  Whether it was a midseason slump or something in the locker room water, none of those men could get the ball in the basket.

The injury bug struck again last month with Kirk Hinrich’s elbow, Joakim Noah’s plantar fasciitis, Marco Belinelli’s ankle, Rip Hamilton’s various injuries and Taj Gibson’s knee. The Bulls are already shorthanded playing without star point guard Rose; we can’t afford to lose more of our core. Some think the rumor mill about Rose not returning at all this season started to take a toll on the Bulls’ mental toughness. In the end, the goal is still the same with or without Rose – play hard and win games.

Also, with Kirk Hinrich out of the lineup for 10 of the 13 games we didn’t have a solid point guard running the offense. There was a lot of sloppiness, followed by a lot of turnovers, resulting in some big losses.

Overall: Chicago stumbled out of February with a record of 33-25 on the season, second in the central division, but only won five games and dropped eight big ones in February. They didn’t beat any elite teams other than the Atlanta Hawks and instead the top teams (Spurs, Heat, Thunder, Pacers, Nuggets) made the Bulls pay the price for their struggles. With ample room for improvement we give the Bulls a D on the month.

Bulls December Report Card: B

Happy New Year Bulls fans! With 2012 behind us, the Bulls look to take January by storm. Chicago finished off the calendar year at 16-13 and 9-6 for the month. December was a bit of a roller-coaster for the Bulls as they were able to defeat some of the Eastern Conference’s top teams, but also choked against one of the very worst.

The Bulls were a team held to very few expectations entering the 2012-2013 season, but our Bulls are fighters and have proven many of their haters wrong. It hasn’t been an easy ride thus far as every win has been a collective team effort of heart, sweat and intensity.  Let’s take a look at the good and the bad of the final days of 2012.

The Good: The Bulls did some Eastern Conference damage in December. They beat the New York Knicks twice (once at home and once at Madison Square Garden), they locked up a home win and a road win against their playoff rival Philadelphia 76ers, and to top things off they also beat the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics.

The Bulls reserves are proving that this new crew is just as powerful as the “bench mob”. Marco Belinelli came out of his shell producing some extra offensive power when Rip Hamilton was locked down due to a foot injury and Belinelli took his starting slot.

Nate Robinson has done his fair share and is an obvious spark-plug off the bench. His additional scoring power has kept the Bulls alive in many of their close games. Jimmy Butler plays less than 20 minutes a game, but makes every minute count.

Rookie point guard Marquis Teague has shown promise with his excellent court vision and decision-making. Teague has appeared in 16 games as Kirk Hinrich has suffered a string of injuries.

The Bad: Despite the positive wins, they also had some rough losses. Chicago rode the struggle bus Christmas Day getting blown out by the Houston Rockets 120-97. Don’t get me wrong, since the addition of James Harden the Rockets have been playing well, but it’s always embarrassing to lose by 20 plus points. Apparently Charlotte has Chicago’s number, because the 8-23 Bobcats defeated the Bulls 91-81, a 10 point deficit.

Overall Assessment: Finishing 9-6 on the month is definitely a positive for the Rose-less Bulls. The last few games of December were rather rough to watch as they got spanked by the Atlanta Hawks, trampled by Houston on Christmas Day, and defeated by the lowly Charlotte Bobcats.

If only Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich could get their offensive mojo flowing consistently our Bulls could consider themselves a playoff contender. It’s still quite early in the season for any serious predictions, but the Bulls are in decent shape starting out 2013.

Old-School NBA Rivalry: Bulls vs Knicks Cheat Sheet

It’s time to add a little fuel to the fire in one of the NBA’s oldest rivalries as the Bulls head to New York to face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are looking to avenge a loss suffered to Chicago earlier in December, but this time they won’t be missing their main man Carmelo Anthony. With Melo on the court, New York has a definite advantage, but you can’t count the Bulls out as they’ve been able to compete with the elite despite being shorthanded.

New York is still leadin

g the Eastern Conference at 19-6 and have continued to prove themselves worthy of their new-found success throughout this season. Chicago is leading the Central Division in the East at 14-10 and have played much better than anticipated thus far as they are missing super-star Derrick Rose. Bring on the Big Apple!
