DRose – Bulls Birthday Boy

DRose at Media Day 2012

I’d like to send a birthday shout-out to my favorite Chicago Bull Mr. Derrick Rose. The former NBA MVP turns 24 today and I wish him nothing but happiness and success.

After a tragic season ending ACL injury things look to be on the up-and-up for Rose who made his way around the Berto Center for Media Day this past Monday. No noticeable limp, no grimaces or signs of discomfort, just smiles. He talked about how the injury has forced him to grow during his rehabilitation – specifically his patience – which may result in a better player overall. I like the sound of that!

(in my finest singing voice) Happy Birthday to you DRose, and many moooorre!

Derrick Rose – The Red Knight

I think Chicago fans are done eating hot dogs and watching baseball games. With the quickly approaching fall months comes the NFL who’s shortly followed by the NBA (when they’re not in a lockout of course). This NBA season Bulls fans will need more patience than ever as their rock star Derrick Rose is rehabbing his season ending knee injury. The video above is rather creative and sets Rose’s road to recovery to the trailer of the The Dark Knight. Lebron James takes on the character of Bane – aka the villain and Chicago’s reckoning – but in the end Rose will rise again. I have to admit it got me a little pumped for the NBA again!

Check it out :-)

Rose Can’t Catch a Break – Injury Woes

Despite his return last Sunday from the lingering groin injury, Derrick Rose now suffers from a “sprained” right ankle. This superstar cannot catch a break from all the injuries!

The most recent ankle injury occurred in the second quarter of the overtime loss to the New York Knicks last Sunday.

Here’s how it went down in Rose’s words during a press conference at the Berto Center this morning:

“I think I was driving and twisted my ankle, and you know how I am. If it’s a close game or a game I want to get, I‘m going to continue to play and that ended up making it worse. Just an ankle sprain and hopefully I’ll be over it in a couple of days. The only thing I can do is try to stay positive. God does everything for a reason. I don’t know the reason right now. Just trying to fight through it and just trying to cheer on my teammates,” he said after the team’s Tuesday-morning shootaround, prior to the evening’s rematch with New York at the United Center. “It was something I knew was big. In the fourth quarter, that’s why I was walking the ball up the majority of the time. I wasn’t running because of the throbbing, but I was just trying to win the game and it definitely hurts losing the game and definitely if I have to sit out this game. If I do choose to play or choose not to play, it’s definitely going to hurt. That game right there hurt a lot.”

Rose is yet again a “game time decision” for tonight’s rematch against the Knicks. He reported that his ankle is still swollen and he is going to keep treating it. The MVP has to be healthy to play, we wouldn’t want him playing and possibly worsening his right ankle. All wins are important, but having Rose explosive come playoff time is essential.

Rose is well aware of his injury woes and how they’re effecting the overall chemistry of the starting lineup, he told CSNChicago.com:

“It’s huge, especially right now. We have to catch a rhythm. I’ve been out the majority of the year with all these injuries. A couple other players have been out a little bit, but if anything, we’re happy that we’ve been together,” he explained. “This is basically the same team from last year. We know everybody’s tendencies on the team. We know how to play with one another, but it’s going to take a little time for us to jell.”

There was some good news! Rose mentioned that his groin injury is behind him and Sunday’s game did not effect the previously strained muscle. One day at a time, I guess.

Derrick Rose – Best Kind of Mama’s Boy

Derrick Rose keeps his mama close to his heart and is now taking her on the court. Last night during the Bulls 105-102 defeat over the New York Knicks, Rose debuted his new “Brenda” signature shoe.

“Brenda” is the latest colorway of Rose’s signature adiZero Rose 2.5 line, named after his mama because red is her favorite color – seriously how precious can you get? With NYC commonly referred to as “The Big Apple,” Rose and Adidas would be hard pressed to find a better place to debut the shoe.

I think Adidas should continue the new color schemes because Rose has dominated the last 2 games where he debuted his new shoes. Rose dropped 34 points against the Bucks when he debuted the adiZero Rose 2.5 last week. Last night he out shined fellow All-Star starter Carmelo Anthony with 32 points, 13 assists, and an answer to every Knicks rally.

I say bring on the shoes!!
